Who we are
At Payton, we believe we have a responsibility to harness our success to help improve the lives of people, wherever they are in the world.
Founded by the Payton family in 2011 by donating 20% of the shares in Payton Capital Ltd, the Payton Foundation partners with charities and investors to help transform the lives of the poor and the vulnerable.
Together we provide:
- housing and support for youth experiencing homelessness in Victoria
- pregnancy support for young mums in crisis in Melbourne
- freedom from human trafficking and vocational training in Thailand
- education for disadvantaged youth in Kenya
- vocational training for mothers in Uganda
- chicken farming enterprise supporting a children’s home in Kenya
Jason is a Chartered Accountant with extensive practice, corporate and board experience. He has been on boards of numerous charities for most of his career including the Safe Harbour Foundation and Bendigo Bank Community Bank branches. Jason brings a focus on governance and diligence as well as a heart for those in need.
Philanthropy and Engagement
Steph has extensive experience in community fundraising and completed a Bachelor of Arts (Global) specialising in Community Development at Monash University. Steph has held a number of roles within Australian charities and was a mentor at Fusion’s housing service for five years. Alongside her role with the Foundation, Steph continues to work as the Fundraising and Resource Manager at Fusion Australia.
David has worked on the financial services sector for over 20 years. He has been an investment adviser with Lend Lease and Lifespan, and prior to Payton was Dealer Principal and Head of Funds Management for a large not-for-profit organisation. In these roles David established financial planning and lending businesses including the creation of wholesale commercial mortgage portfolios with Westpac and ANCU.
David holds a Bachelor of Business, Diploma of Financial Services, Diploma of Finance and is a member of the Financial Planning Association.
Tim is a certified practicing accountant with extensive experience in structuring capital for property investment. Tim is the founder of the Payton Group and has worked in the finance industry for the past 40 years.
Rob has worked in the property industry for the past 25 years. Rob pioneered Market-Line Property Valuers, which is now (post-merger with Opteon) the largest valuer in Victoria. Rob has extensive experience in industrial and commercial property, and provides valuable in-house property expertise.
Rob holds a diploma and post graduate qualifications in property, is a certified property valuer and retail specialist as defined in the Retail Leases Act.
Sally has over 15 years’ of experience in the funds management and financial planning industries having worked at Payton for the past 7 years, and previously at Macquarie Bank and other smaller businesses. She has extensive experience in working with investors, financial planners, accountants and lawyers, assisting them to fulfill their financial goals. Sally is responsible for business development and client and stakeholder management. She is also passionate about philanthropy and sits on the board of the Payton Foundation.
Greg recently retired after a career as a Certified Financial Planner, Chartered Accountant and Registered Company Auditor. For over thirty years, Greg has consulted for and worked within numerous for-profit and not-for-profit associations, religious organisations and community groups. Greg has been an investor with Payton Capital for some time but is enthusiastic to now contribute his experience to the Payton Foundation.
After completing a double degree in Science and Engineering, Ross has enjoyed a variety of roles in the property development, finance and IT consultancy industries. With experience working in multi-national companies overseeing global infrastructure to co-owning a start-up tech business in Australia, Ross passion remains in supporting not-for-profit organisations including assisting with strategic direction, providing hands-on assistance and setting governance structures as a Board Member.
Payton Foundation Fund (Public Ancillary Fund)
The Payton Foundation Fund is a Public Ancillary Fund registered with the ACNC and ATO and is a Deductible Gift Recipient (from 5 July 2017). That means that Gifts/Donations over $2 are tax deductible. Donations received in this fund will only be applied to partner organisations who are also Deductible Gift Recipients.
100% of all donations will be passed through to partner organisations. Admin costs of the Foundation are borne by the trustee: Payton Foundation Ltd.

Payton Foundation Ltd (Trustee)
Payton Foundation Ltd is a company limited by guarantee and is a charity in its own right, registered with the ACNC and has Tax Concession Charity status with the ATO but is NOT a deductible gift recipient. It also acts as trustee for the Public Ancillary Fund.
It was established in 2014 when Payton Capital Ltd gifted it 20% of its shares. The dividends from these shares are used to fund the administration of the trustee and the Public Ancillary Fund, and also fund work with partner organisations who are not themselves deductible gift recipients.
